George Campbell got his career start in 1989 as a controls engineer at a DuPont plastic film plant in Buffalo, New York. He spent 12 years designing control panels and coding programmable logic controllers that operate industrial machinery. In 2001, he began working from home as a freelance web designer using the LAMP stack to produce websites for hotels, doctors’ offices and other small businesses. In 2012, he joined OCLC to work on the WorldShare platform. He helped users access their web-based integrated library system from OCLC’s APIs by working on an API explorer. In 2016, he led the engineering team that chose PhoneGap. He is currently developing mobile applications on the PhoneGap stack and enjoys the efficiency of coding in JavaScript, especially with the modern plugins that are available in the Node ecosystem.
